Well done, we tried it one very hot summer day, didn't do very well. Decided sandals were not the correct footwear. Nothing to do with it being a lot higher than we thought and us not having much staying power.
I used to do it on May 1st every year. Also, I used to go to Moray House in the Royal Mile and it was quite a regular climb for many of us. I loved the view and the history of the hill.
Well done. If you go up during one of edinburgh's mists you can sometimes get above it and see the rooftops of Edinburgh.

If you ask permission from the park police you are allowed to scramble (low level rock climb) in south quarry.
Funny lived their for 20 years and don't remember going up Carlton Hill.
