I saw the live show at the O2 last night and it was basically the same as the tv episodes with lots of embellishment. One scene though, was Mrs. Brown and her two daughters-in-law and she was quizzing them and it really seemed off the cuff. Having bombarded Maria with questions she said 'now it's your turn' turning to Betty who seemed embarrassed. She asked her how her mother was.
'Still dead' How long has she been dead. After a bit of thought 'two years'. Pause - what did she die of? Betty searching for an answer 'frostbite'. Oh, was she skiing in the Alps? 'She was in Iceland'. Mrs. Brown gave a nod to Betty acknowledging a good answer and muttered 'she's been practising. It did all seem ad lib but I wondered if it was all just well rehearsed. Anyone else seen the show and can say if the scene was played differently when they saw it?

My daughter-in-law and her mother also saw it in Cardiff last week, but on a different day ........ all the 'ad-libs' were the same as the day I saw it !!! lol

It's probably very well rehearsed. They wouldn't want to take the risk of things falling flat.
On the tv episodes there's usually something that doesn't look rehearsed and I genuinely think that they don't know.
the routine was very similar - though not identical - when performed in Birmingham back in April.
Why mrs browns boys the little Ive seen of it could not figure it out and lost interest a good idea for a comedy done to dead

It was nice to hear from someone who has seen the show. Mushroom25 did you get the feeling it was all rehearsed or ad libbed? Either way, it was a great evening. full of laughs and giving you a real 'feel good' feeling.
I never took it to it at the beginning - thought it a bit vulgar - but have watched quite a bit of it now - definitely very much ad libbed from Mrs Brown herself - not the others though.
The same scenario was performed when I saw it in Cardiff last week ..... so it was a well rehearsed ad-lib !
Well I have only seen TV Mrs Brown's boys but when she does ad lib - the others go into fits of (to me anyway) genuine laughter.
Sincerity and genuineness is everything. If an actor/actress can fake them they've got it made. :-)

it's complete claptrap.....
at the show i saw, there were definitely times when it seemed brendan o' carroll was on a mission to make other cast members "corpse" - and it's obvious they've developed strategies to combat that.....
lcg, I agree. But well rehearsed claptrap.

Thanks for all your answers - so well-rehearsed ad libs then but still extremely funny.
It's rehearsed to within an inch of its life. I knew someone who worked on the show, and said that every single 'ad lib' and 'surprise guest' is well planned
