We have just had a very animated conversation about some shoes that I had as a boy.

When I was a lad in the 60's, I nagged my poor Mum for some Clarks shoes, that had a compass hidden in the heel. All the boys at school had them and
I desperately wanted a pair as well. My 13 year old nephew thinks they are the silliest idea that he ever heard of and accuses me of making things up ! This is rich coming from someone who has never had to learn to tie a shoe lace and uses velcro instead !

Can anybody remember what these shoes were called ?

Perhaps they had a cell phone in the other heel:)
Anyone remember the girls' jeans with a small bell sewn in to the bottom of one leg? I think they were called Jingles.
I suppose it was an early form of SatNav
I remember having a pair and as a girl hated them. They were something like Pathfinders, my parents bought them for me to take part in school activity called climbing club. I got hypothermia the first expedition we went on and I never went again, had to wear the shoes out though.
Jo jingles I think were the jeans. they were outrageously expensive for bell bottom jeans with a bell sewn on.
...and they had animal footprints on the soles.
Woofgang, I think you're right :)
Amazing, boxtops. Thanks. They are quite a bit more modernistic than the one I had:)
Mikey - if you had been a girl would your mum have forced you to wear a pair like these?
