When you go to a beauty salon for facials etc. do you tip. The facials are £50, I haven't had one before. Don't want to do the wrong thing.

I usually do, but I know some people don't- I think it's more a matter of personal taste than a massive etiquette faux pas:)

237, we use mud for facials but not for huts ;)
@237SJ

We're in danger if straying into the ethics (or not) of the working tax credits system, at this point.

Thw whole blummin' economy seems to be on crutches, these days. A lot of snazzy looking cars about the place, though. Someone is clearly doing well for themselves, in spite of it all.

;-)
I tip my hairdresser so heavily that I can always get an appointment, even on Christmas eve. Strictly speaking, the rule is - you do not tip if your treatment, etc is done by the owner or the senior manager/stylist of the salon, since they charge extra for their superior expertise anyway.. But you tip everyone else. If you have 2 people treating you - say they provide different services - you tip them both. I assure you they will remember you, either as a bad tipper or as a good one. They will treat you accordingly in future. You may notice the difference. For instance, good tippers are welcomed when they arrive and will not be left to wait for attention.
Try to tip at least ten percent; up to twenty if you want to be treated as one of their best customers.

So you're saying I've been a fool for [ redacted ] years?

If I become conscious of receiving second-rate service because the owner of the establishment thinks of me as a bad tipper then they simply don't get my business any more. Simple as that. Clearly no loss to them because they've got mu… I mean grrrrreat customers, like you, to keep them in the black. Well done, keep up the patronage.
