I know EDDIE, but its still a stealth tax.
BTW EDDIE, I know what you said earlier on in this thread about this been 'part off my problems' but it really isnt. I know I have my problems (dont we all) and ive been immensly grateful for both your own and other ABers support over the months (years?), but I feel strongly about about this anyway.
i don't understand how this post got to be so long, when it was answered on the first page.
On the subject of TV licences, it's fine to exercise your choice not to buy one, as long as you realise that if you get caught, you can't complain about being fined or taken back to prison.
It's gone on so long because people keep commenting! Like you just did.
:)
Doh! You did it again ;-)

or me? ;-)
Anyway thank you nailit for giving me" best answer".
You are completely confused and/or mistaken about the law, nailit. Read the straightforward text of the law as I posted. Nothing about watching the BBC; nothing about having to be caught watching TV; nothing about signing forms; nothing about many of the other things mentioned.

It is not a stealth tax. Stealth means deceitful, cloaked or hidden. It is none of those. It is a fee (or a tax if you like) for having a TV. Just the same as the Vehicle Excise licence is a tax for having a car.

Hopefully that puts an end to it (but I doubt it!).
