I fell over in January and got a lovely big black bruise at the top of my thigh. It really was quite painful even after the bruise appeared. My query is, why after nearly 3 months, my thigh still feels sore if I touch it?

crap.....do you mind me shortening your name? ;-) No big deal, it is where the insertion of an important muscle is inserted and the fact that it is used for walking will slow up the healing process. It will settle without treatment.

It would be might due to the infection growth at your back i would recommend you to consult the doctor that would be better for you.
Just a little more information needed:

The bruise? on the front of the thigh, the inner surface of your thigh or the outer aspect of your thigh?

Can you walk and stand on the affected leg without pain?

Squad, the bruise was on the outer aspect my thigh. As I said, no bruise any more but tender to touch.
