Bread And Dripping

The other day I was telling the kids that this was a staple snack when I was young.
Bless my daughter - she has been out and about and found me a big tub of what we used to call "mucky dripping" (pork dripping with loads of black jelly bits)
I have just had some for breakfast, and very nice it was too!

The dripping came from the Sunday roast, so we must have always had one of them, we always had a 2nd roast on a Wednesday.

I remember my Dad loving dripping sandwiches. When I was very little I offered to make him one, his face was a picture after the first bite.......how was I to know you don't butter the bread first?

When I was a kid at Junior school (mid 60s), mam would cook chips in beef dripping and later that night we'd have butties made with the dripping left in the chip pan - gave it an extra taste and then had Hammonds Chop Sauce on top - yum bloody yum..........

takes me back to when i was little and my grandad used to toast a big piece of bread on a fork infront of the fire and then smother it in pork dripping with lots of salt it was delicious

I recall bread & dripping used ot be pleasant. I never have dripping around though; lost that pleasure as soon as I left the family home.
