Taking tabs as doctor said I was low on iron, but my tiredness is extreme at the moment, everything is an effort. Nothing showed up on tests at the doctors. I sleep soundly at night for about 7-8 hours and have a sleep in the afternoon as well, but I am tired all the time

Low vitamin D?
19:46 Wed 29th May 2013
I have a recurring vitamin D deficiency and it makes me feel really run down, as confirmed (both the deficiency and that it can make you feel really run down) by my specialist consultant. Not surprised you're feeling really tired with that and anaemia too. Feel better soon x

Thank you Eve x
Tamaris please excuse me as I just wanted to answer SIQ regarding your thread and what he's written to me.

SIQ - thank you for writing what you did, it takes a lot for someone to say they were incorrect or best info not given on a thread and then admit it on here so I admire you for that thank you. No worries about not knowing everything (no one does methinks) and like you, I also come on here to be educated by others with more knowledge than I have, that's the name of the game I think. I hope you will gain what you want from looking more into this subject, I do feel that they are discovering more and more about vitamins and the important things they do; even depletion of iron was once just "nothing too bad" to some of the medical profession but that too has shown up as how important it is to maintain a good level for the best of health as that affects so many areas of the body and again elderly people who often cannot maintain the normal (ish) levels.

It's good that they are taking these things seriously IMO and doing more research and I for one am interested in the vit D problem especially for the latest research being done on a link to respiratory problems which they feel is relevant.

I wish you well and of course you tamaris with hopefully improving how you feel after your course of tablets. (Eve...hope your health improves too as this problem really does make you out of sorts as you've confirmed).
I hope this is my last submission on tamaris and eve's problems because tamaris and her doctor are clearly on the right track and tamaris will keep Eve and us informed. I will retire to the sidelines, staying subscribed and hoping to hear of a successful outcome as I am now confident there will be.
I write here principally for daisya's very generous acceptance of my apologies. Thank you so much daisya, my public stupidity and rudeness has been bugging me for days.
I notice that daisya has been the first to mention ferritin - well done daisya. I was tempted to do so but did not wish to stir the pot any further. Plasma/serum ferritin is now regarded as the true measure of total body iron status or was before I retired.
Finally (I can hear the sighs of relief from all), yup, daisya, iron status is not just about haemoglobin. As I said earlier it is a vital component of many key enzymes. The most notable of these are in the power-houses of all animal cells and therefore our lives (including our energy levels), the Mitocondria.
Luv and best wishes to all,
SIQ.
