I have heard a few of his interviews and discussions, I must admit that some of what he says goes right over my head and some of the words he uses, (I think he makes them up lol)

I have just sat through this YouTube clip, yes his views on religion are well known but I do find him very interesting.

Of course he is also a very troubled man being severely Bipolar, that is such a complex illness that has driven many to suicide, including Stephen Fry with his attempted suicide.

He's certainly a highly intelligent man - and his openness about his mental health has surely helped to expose some of the barriers to talking about it.

Mamy....
\\\ maybe Alston will return to enlighten us.\\\

Excuse me for answering for alston, but that comment about Dyslexia was not aimed at anyone in particular........just a general opinion of the disorder.
RATTER15.....If you genuinely have Dyslexia you have my full sympathy. There are problems in my own family but I would Not wish to go into print on the issues concerned. So far as I am aware there has Not been any evidence in your postings to suggest that you are a Dyslexic. Consequently I am Not having a go at you in any shape or form and if you feel that I have said anything personal to you which has given you cause to be distressed, then please accept my sincere apologies.

Al.
Ooops!....apologies for double posting....alston.
Sqad and Al - thank you.

Zeuhl, the news section! I find that place a little scary, most of the political stuff goes way over my head!

Gness, we arent sure about the milking goats! we will have goats it is just the milking bit we arent sure about, its a big commitment having to milk goats every 12 hours lol, especially in Wales at 250 ft above sea level, it get bloody cold!!! but you could also hug an alpaca and some wabbits.
there we are, makes the cockles of the heart warm up......do I have a heart - how many ABers do?
and don't forget the hooounds. Maybe that's what SF needs - dogs like yours, ratter! Here we are, solving the world's problems this afternoon.....
I shall hug an alpaca then...thank you....xx

Alston, I of course accept your apology, I hope you dont notice too much evidence of my Dyslexia, thanks to "microsoft word" and spell/grammar checkers, but saying that I dont usually have a clue what the grammar checker is telling me to do. without a grammar checker and a good Woman behind me, my punctuation would be almost zero, and no I cant learn, I have been trying to learn for 50+ years, I just have little or no concept of punctuation.

Ratter, you build beautiful chicken houses. Not many of us can do that I bet. I would be very proud if I could. BTW I hope you're taking it with you.
Cheers RATTER....... Glad we are still friends. Hope your move to Wales goes well.

ladybirder, yes the chicken coop will be coming with us and I will be building more along with some field shelters and possibly stables, I may even be selling some that I make :-)
There's got to be a market for that gorgeous coop. I must check our lease and see if we can keep chickens on the roof terrace, if we can I'll be after one. Ratter, ignore me if I'm being too intrusive, but have you got a job to go to when you move or are you becoming self-employed? Or retiring even?
Back on topic, and hopefully ok to still be there!
I love Stephen Fry! Yes, he says lots of big words, but I'don't think it's an affectation............he really does talk like that!
Not everyone's cup of tea, I'll admit, but I admire him for NOT dumbing down.
At least he doesn't assume we are all thick and can't understand big words.
Effeminate is not a word that should be launched at anyone these days. "So what" is the only answer to that.

ladybirder, We will be starting our own enterprise in the field of Animal Assisted Therapy + a few other little interests that we both share. I am hoping to carry on with doing similar work in care to keep my hand in but we will be in a very remote location so not sure how that will pan out.
vv, it isn't the length of his words that is one of the reasons I am less than enthusiastic about him it's the number of them. Never uses one when fifty will do. Nobody loves the sound of his own voice more than Mr Fry.

Well I agree a bit, Ladybirder, that he does love the sound of his own voice, perhaps!
I would say, though, that he struggles with that.............beats himself up about talking too much etc, has periods of hating himself.
All part of his bipolar, I'm sure.
He's in the public eye, though, so you have every right to "not like"! I do like.
I wish you every success Ratter in whatever you choose to do. It all sounds wonderful.
If you've got the room, I bet there are young people who have not had the best start in life who would love to come and stay with you and Carakeel for a few days, as a kind of retreat. To feed and care for the animals and watch you work and perhaps learn something. Maybe you could it do through the local council. But I suppose that would defeat the object of being remote. I think I'd better shut up.
Question Author
ladybirder, the Therapy will be geared toward the mentally and physically disabled, including old age and dementia. Im not sure we want be associated with any council but our services will be there if they want to use us.
