Does anyone know if you can buy individual bars for a glockenspiel / xylophone?

Or a cheap place to buy percussion instruments in general.

Or for free? I'm a student and have no money, I know people hate us students but I don't know why? :(

thanks

Max, bars are definitely available. Here's one site I found just by Googling...... Unfortunately, no prices given though................ http://www.percussionplus.co.uk/products/spares/default.aspx Wooden bars are easily made though. I've played some marimbas in the past. Here's a site all about making the bars.............

Try Ebay, their probably your best bet.
You could ask on Gumtree if anyone has some.
Do people really hate students?
Ive never heard of people hating students either Sandy, I accept that some students do appear to give the rest a bad name sometimes.
Well it narks me a bit when students demonstrate for more money or against cuts and so on, but i've got nothing against them as individuals.

Thanks, I'll keep you posted about the progress of my project.

I suppose I am assuming people 'hate' students - My judgement was based on many a conversations with drunken locals in various pubs across the area. Suppose your right, must just be the worst of students giving the rest an unfortunate bad reputation.

Thanks a lot guys,
all the best
