Ok this should go in Animals and Nature but since most people gather here I'll ask it here.

I have noticed that with both my present and late ginger cats, they are obsessed with food, you open a can, foil tray or rattle a bowl or even set foot in the kitchen. Is it just a ginger cat thing or what as I have never seen my other cats like this or any other cat?

Face it kiddo. Any ginger cat living in this house isn't truly a cat. More of a stomach on 4 paws using a cat as a life support system! Molly, my cat, getting on, entitled to grumps!

a sense of guilt for getting beaten up perhaps?
we have a ginger female cat age 11,we renamed her Violet Elizabeth Bott because she is such a madam and rules our two shar peis, she isnt greedy but keeps asking for food takes a little bit then calls the dogs to eat the rest even though they have their own food next to hers they seem to like her food better, why we dont know.

we have a cat like that in our midst too Dee Sa, Nungates Avatar, she is such a moody madam, thinks she owns the place and growls at everyone almost 90% of the time.
Why shouldn't she? Molly is a queen among cats, and contrary to what you might think I'm Queen/Empress of this abode!
My ginger cat eats a little bit at a time, and he doesn't like it if you overfill his bowl. My previous ginger cat ate what he was given at about the same time everyday and wasn't much interested in the comings and goings of the kitchen outside of these times. So no, I've not noticed ginger cats being particularly obsessed with food.

Keep an eye on the lump boxtop. mine came back with a lump after a fight and it developed into a wopping abcess. I had a very large ginger cat who would only eat his food once it had gone smelly and his milk would have to be curdled
My black and white cat is a greedy so and so, and he's getting a belly on him so he doesn't so much leap gracefully onto things as throws himself in the right general direction and then flops with his wee back legs flailing to get on to whatever he's landed on. He is VERY vocal about wanting fed and won't shut up till his mouth is full. My ginger cat will eat a wee bit at a time, when he feels like it - not the minute it's put down to him, and he never miaows - just a wee occassional chirp. The only time he scoffs everything in sight is when he's had a fit
