To do agility you need some basic training like walking to heel (healing?) and sit or down stays. They need to be good off the lead and come when called, so I would find a good training class for the basics, then you will probably find that other people there also do agility or heelwork to music and you can find a specialist club that does that. To do agility you need some basic training like walking to heel (healing?) and sit or down stays. They need to be good off the lead and come when called, so I would find a good training class for the basics, then you will probably find that other people there also do agility or heelwork to music and you can find a specialist club that does that. If you want to have a go at 'breed' (beauty) showing you need a ringcraft club, which teaches you how to get your dog to stand and move in the way they have to do at a show, and get used to being handled by a judge. The breeder of your dog is the best person to tell you whether your dog is good enough to be a show dog, and will also be able to give you some tips on grooming. There is no reason why a breed such as yours can't do all of these things - I know plenty that do and enjoy success in several areas. Its great that you want to do things with your dog and I wish you good luck. Which area are you - I can find out about suitable classes for you and maybe some shows in your area where you can go and chat to other Goldie owners.
Lankeela...thanks for the clarification. I was wondering how you would train a dog to do healing....

thanks lankeela! healing is just when your dog is walking with you and stuff like that. just to clear that up.
That would be heeling as in to walk to heel daisy as Lankeela has already said :-)
My breed is called a Lancashire Heeler, and someone I know has a van with their kennel name on and the breed name. They were stopped at a services and someone asked them if they were faith healers from Lancashire!

whatever. Any grooming tips?
I would start with obedience to teach her all the basic commands and train her to pay attention, you don't say how old she is but I'd go for agility next as she seems to have energy to burn off. Not sure about grooming tips I did'nt think Goldies had that much hair. I would imagine a quick once over once a day with a bristle brush and a twirly tooth comb for the feathering should do it and only take 5 mins. Clean teeth once a week (min) and check nails regularly especially if she has dew claws.

I was watching the AKC dog show today and I relized:
"I want to do agility too!"
So I've been looking up agility classes (as you said lankeela you do need basic training) But none of them have a visible age limit (18 and over etc...) because I'm under 18 what is the usual age limit? Anything "agility" what I need to know etc... That would be great thanks!
