Hi guys

I am taking my mum (late 70s) and my ex mum-in-law (late 60s) on holiday for a week. We had originally booked Sicily but that has fallen thru as they now say they can't do single travellers (even when a suppliment was offered!) So I now have two very upset OAPs.

I am now scouring the likes of lastminute.com etc and have come up with two alternative destinations : Malta or Gibralter.

Which one is the best option do you think?

They are both fairly active, love shopping and sightseeing. So I want somewhere with enough old ruins, towns, things to do as well as somewhere with a pool etc where they can have chill out days too.

Any of you guys that have been to either can you give me your opinion on how suitable either would be. ta

Alison

not Ian Fleming, i can't find it, but interested to know. I spent a happy day on Comino, it is a little gem.
Ernest Hemmingway, I think. It's just come to me.
Anthony Burgess, Hemingway lived in many places, last i think was the caribbean
Sorry no, not according to Wikpaedia anyway.

No em. EH.
ok sorry, Burgess moved around quite a lot, much the same way as Hemingway, though he did live for a little time in Malta before moving onto Rome, Burgess that is, complicated...
I think Burgess mostly lived in Monaco, as a tax haven, at the end of his life
I have been to both, Gib twice. It was a few years ago though. I would go to Malta as there is nothing to do in Gib, you can see it all in one day and no decent beaches there either. At least on Malta there are places of interest to see.
