9 across. Clue: Coat one lost-it's found on the sea. I have: ?U?F. Probably SURF, could be GULF but can't tie it in with "coat one lost". Help please.

I can only think of surf being an anagram of furs which has something to do with a coat but "one lost" still troubles me.

Therefore we have SURFACE with ACE lost = SURF.
