Shorthold Tennacy question

If I was to let a friend stay at my flat for a short period of time while I stayed somewhere else, would this be ok under the terms of a shorthold tennancy agreement. He would not be paying rent so it wouldn't be a sub-letting situation.

Yes - cover yourself, you don't want to find yourself with a squatter. Also, check your own tenancy agreement, there may be something in there which says you can't sub-let - and in effect you are sub-letting IMO, but for zero rent.

Even if he is not paying rent,I still think you should both sign a Tenancy Agreement, which can prevent ay disputes in the future.

Yes, as boxtops says,even rent free tenancy is still sub~letting.
