How difficult is it to remove the actuator unit from this gearbox. Its only done 38000 miles and Vauxhall want £1000

In answer to your question it is very easy to remove the actuator unit, mine gave up one Xmas. I was lucky enough to have a friend at the place that developed it for Vauxhalls and he sourced me a secondhand replacement. It coincided with a failure they saw on a test vehicle so were curious as to the cause and failure mode.

Well I'd do it .. but never seen one. But I am advanced .. and been working on cars for years.
Transmission on standard Corsa is easy enough to remove .. so an actuator canno be that bad.
