New ball in a test cricket

If a bowling side took a new ball when offered it with one wicket to take and then quickly took that wicket with the new ball in 1 over do the batting side then get a brand new ball or take the 1 over old ball?

The fielding team always have a new ball at the start of each innings.

In the situation you describe the ball which had been used for just a single over would probably be added to the reserve collection of balls that the umpires can call upon. (If a ball becomes damaged during play the umpires have to replace it with a ball in a similar condition to that which the original ball would have been in without the damage).
