which was rundown and derelict, so you spend lots of money and you put your own stamp on it..

What quirky name would you have on the hanging sign outside?

I'd have a sign over the entrance saying "The Inny" and have a sign over the exit saying "....and the Outy"
The Footerer*s Inn.
Buenchico i know honestly is usually the best policy and most people can are used to grumpy landlords and accept that the food sometimes is just there to fill a whole and won't ever win any michelin stars but warm beer is a no no on every level!
I'll agree with that Micky but that pub gets loads of customers turning off the main road in order to see if the signs are true. That included me ( . . . and they're not! - it's a very pleasant little boozer)
You wouldn't believe the amount of complaints there was when the pub I worked in first put the real ales through the chillers!
What did you call your pub sherrardk?
docspock, I appreciated shy tot. A friend of mine in the RAF had it sign-written on the side of his sports car. Driving around Stratford upon Avon all the tourists, especially the Americans, would call out "hallo shy tot" and then get all embarrassed. Ah, happy days.
HI ClaireBare - it was already called the Lord Nelson and I think it was in the deeds that we couldn't change it as the premises were leasehold.
The Shop so i wasnt telling a lie to otherhalf when i say "i am just going to the shop "
