I have just tried a pack of DVD Rs in my camcorder instead of the usual RWs as they were so much cheaper. I finalised the first shot so I could upload it to Youtube and guess what. You've guessed it. The disk is now locked. I can't record anything on it.

Have I just thrown my money away as I can't take them back now for the others?

If you have finalised the dvd, then yes you will need a new one now.

"R-W" means re-writable whereas "R" just means recordable if that's any help....
I can weep with you Dave, 4yrs ago when I first bought my PC I bought 6 DVD+ RW and when I tried to record with them they should have been DVD-RW and I`ve still got them sitting uselessly on a shelf in front of me.

Very odd, the system never emailed me on these which is very unusual. Thanks for the help and will probably use them to save videos from the others if the computer will let me.
