Interesting fact maybe;'Chelmsford' contains 10 letters and no repeats it is used in the antique trade. Easily done under pressure.

Interesting fact maybe;

'Chelmsford' contains 10 letters and no repeats it is used in the antique trade. Make C = 0, h = 1, e = 2, l = 3 etc. up to the final  d = 9.

So a dealer can use it as a code. eg. If he/she wants £570 as a guide price for article, instead of writing that on the label as a firm price, he can write; 'SOC'.  Then he can adjust up or down from that when a prospective buyer asks 'how much depending on who it is.   Or it can be used to remind the dealer of the price he/she paid for it.

10:52, never heard of that, very interesting, I think that code cold be very useful for lots of things. I'm learing the letters. Watch out for chelmsford codes in future postings.

Khandro, what have you done? :o(

Surely the q is badly worded? I doubt that anyone born in Chelmsford has to see out their days in the same city?

Perhaps - hail from which county?

Question Author

I think it's quite clear, how would you have worded it?

As I posted above, TTT ;)

TTT. and you wonder why you have posts removed.  Using codes and other methods to avoid the swear filter or to surreptitiously (you think)  insult people is what gets you into trouble half the time.  When are you ever going to learn to grow up?!

Question Author

choux, how can:

"Chelmsfordians hail from what county?"

be clearer than

"Chelmsfordians live in what county?"

Question Author

11:25, the Chelmsford code can only be used for numbers.

TTT, it doesn't matter.  I'm trying to tell you that if messing about like about like a schoolboy results in suspicions that you're abusing the rules you've no room to complain if you're zapped or suspended - that's all.   This is so frustrating.  You are, in my opinion, a very valuable member of this site -  prolific, interesting and all of that - so just learn for once that stupidity gets you into trouble - and that isn't clever.

I just try and bring a bit of light and shade, there's enough dullness on here.

I'm not going to start posting like I'm chatgpt and bore everyone to death.

naomi: Please lighten up, the bell has gone. 🙄

Hoist with your own petard TTT.

Your usual criticism of contestants is that they fail to see the answer contained in the body of the question. This contestant took your advice, and it backfired.

GNAT

TTT's problem is.. He is far to keen to criticise anything that he can't understand.

TTT why do you assume that everybody knows the answers to all the questions? For those of us who don't, perhaps you would be kind enough to give the correct answer.

I don't see anything wrong with the answer given and it's what I would have said.

I only know the answer is Essex because my son lived there. Under pressure, any answer is better than a pass, IMHO.

I don't know what GNAT means
