It's the driver's side window which needs replacing on a 63 reg EXL model.  I'd like to know how much roughly for the actual window and how much for someone to come out and install it.  I'm in an expensive area so I know it won't be cheap.  The garage I like to use is closed on Saturdays unfortunately.

In that case, claim.  You giving up driving, lb?

I think so but not 100% sure yet B.  My DIL will put me on her insurance if I still want to drive. I love driving and always have so we'll see.  Their car is ready for the knackers yard.

Hard to give up driving, no matter what age you are, it's a wrench

//Davebro can you tell me why you would claim please?//

Because I think the effect on your renewal premium would be less than the £200 ish that the insurer will pay to replace the window.

Glass claims don't affect my (your?) no claims bonus.

Thanks Dave. Well I've done it now so we'll see.

I'd claim windscreen replacement from insurance because that is included without excess but that only applies to windscreen on my policy.

As one whose had to, I endorse that wholeheartedly - and public transport is awful.

Public transport can be great if you live within 5 miles of a big city or town, it can be dire if you live out in the sticks.

When I was working I could drive to work in 30 minutes.  On public transport it would have taken over 90 minutes and the first bus was 7:40.  My workday started at 8am

I don't use the bus as I can't walk to the bus stop but BHCC our local council provide disabled people like me with taxi vouchers instead.  It's 52 x £1 vouchers a year.  Every lttle helps.  I often wonder if other councils do the same.

There are, or used to be, dial-a-ride minibus services in some areas for the elderly & disabled.

My council doesn't but we do have ring and ride
