Do you think it's Madame Bovary Sevo? Over the weekend I pasted your quote into google translate for French and then searched for them on google. It came up with lots of books that had some of those words - Hugo, Loti etc - but none that matched it anywhere near the majority.

jourdain2 that could certainly be the case, that this passage was quoted in another book or even a play. Those words, however are those of Gustave Flaubert.
