Why are some people obsessed with skin colour, Atheist? Could it be that is the whole point of "Black" history, using our differences to divide us, when we could be sharing so much of our common humanity, rather than these racial stereotypes promulgated by BLM and suchlike?

I don't see many black people posting here, only white people complaining about black statues. What's your problem?
Stapleford is right. And also, what you say about the concepts of white history and black history is true, Atheist- they are ridiculous lefty woke concepts designed at rewriting history and to divide us. We have had the statue of Mandela in Parliament Square for years, alongside Churchill, Cromwell, Ghandi, Lincoln, Pankhurst etc. And rightly so. Where it goes wrong is when there is an attempt by some very vocal groups to undermine our proud history, and to divide us by promoting 'black' history, which, as Stableford pointed out, does nothing but add to division along racial lines. Let's not forget that the violent BLM movement vandalised the Cenotaph in Whitehall and the Churchill statue, and would continue doing so if they were allowed. We are not the USA, and we are not a racist nation. Most people of BAME heritage do not think of themselves as victims, or oppressed, or somehow 'lesser' than the rest of society. But there does appear to be a current loud voice, amplified by the leftwing media which would have you believe that we are a nationnof racists, and should somehow feel ashamed of our heritage and past.
And its a dangerous narrative that we allow to divide us. The colour of our skin means nothing, we are British.

Fake News.

maybe white history is a history of getting things wrong like that?
The vandalism of the cenotaph may not have been on that date, but it certainly happened. The household cavalry stationed in Whitehall ended up having to clean the graffiti off.

spungle 21:35 bang on and would be BA had I not already given it out.
There's a big one on top of a column in Trafalgar Square.
Spungle; I didn't see that the three statues involved the removal of some other statues, so why do you accuse someone of "rewriting history and to divide us"? The statues had been in place since 1986, and then removed for refurbishment in 2016. Why does that upset you so much?
