If I was to rent my house out could I insist on a non smoker no pet no dss etc
It’s a three bedroom unfurnished so it’s probably a family I’d be looking at

What else would anyone advise I asked for or boycotted

Can I just point out that if you want it to be a family home they may want pets - why not put in a clause that reasonable pets only with prior permission? The amount of pets that have to be rehomed because landlords won't accept them is shocking.

Having worked on many rental properties, I would stipulate that a monthly inspection to be carried out by you or the letting agent.
Zacs I will be honest - I don't know - I have just phoned them up and they have fixed it.
Melv - if my landlord asked for monthly inspections I would tell them where to go and move out. If rent is being paid and you are not receiving negative reports from neighbours that is completely over the top.
Do one for the first month to make sure everything is going ok then do one at the contract renewal.
Tenants are allowed privacy too.
