I have been told that if my mother receives any further respite she will lose her attendance allowance. Is this true and, if so, how much respite is she allowed before it is affected? She currently receives one week in five

TIA

yes see here http://www.ageuk.org.uk/Documents/EN-GB/Factsheets/FS34_Attendance_Allowance_fcs.pdf?dtrk=true section 7.3.2. - sounds as tho you are getting a good deal TBH even if it is five at home one respite ( that is 1:6) then it still a good deal

She initially had two weeks every five but she choose to reduce it to one week a couple of years ago. They have told me we can self fund another week if we like (she currently makes £132 per week contribution) and the cost of the self funded week is £490. Her dementia is worsening and I think more would help her and enable me to continue to work.
sounds like she's just on the cusp
