Has anyone here had radiotherapy following chemo and hysterectomy please? I was fine with chemo, hardly any side effects, but I have to have radiotherapy 5 days a week for 5 weeks :(

Thanks in advance

I have had a radical hysterectomy followed by chemo and then radiotherapy. Chemo was not as bad as I anticipated but still not a walk in the park. Radiotherapy is totally painless and very quick. The only snag being that, in my own case, I had to travel in daily to central London to the hospital using Patient Transport (because of mobility problems) and this...

Nothing went wrong with today's treatment! Volunteer Dave was lovely, we didn't have to wait long, he dropped me off at entrance, then went and parked up. My Monday girl might have to cry off, but I'm not really surprised, I've known her for 30+years.Think I'll phone on Mon morn and ask if I can have later appt, then I'll get a taxi there, and have OH come for me when he finishes work.
So, Anne, Mamya and the others, that's all the news for now :) Am just so glad to be having 2 days off. Going to watch Gogglebox, but it's unlikely I'll stay awake!

Well done bath's, are you very very tired?
Question Author
Anne, yes I am, but look at the flippin' time!
have got my printer working though, so that's one job done. in morning I will sit on my perching stool and wash up, then get rid of everything that's clogging up Tivo box by watching stuff ;) x x

I haven't but my Vera did, twice. The side affects were minimal, but made her tired.

I wish you all the very best baffy.

Lots of love sweetheart. xxx

Oh, of course, how could I have forgotten...they've probably made an entry about it in my notes! As well as the tattoed dot near my lady garden, there's also one on each hip. Yesterday she asked if I'd been injecting myself with something? There's a bruise near one of the hip tattoes, caused when I fell trying to get out of the bath without Sgt Troy's help. Well, he'd done or said summat to *** me off, can't remember what now. Omg, I do hope they don't think I'm a junkie :/

the one thing I was so smug about, I'll never get tats, well, I had no choice in the matter :)
I hope you rest/ sleep whenever you can baths, sleep is a great healer .

"Kernow, have never heard of Double Base before. Will E45 moisturiser do for tomorrow?
They actually gave me a tattoo without even asking my permission!! Actually it's no bigger than a full stop on my pubic bone so they know where to aim!" Hi, DoubleBase (sp?) was prescribed by the hospital but it is available in chemists' shops. It is quite expensive so if they offer to prescribe it for you I'd say 'thanks very much!' I would think E45 cream would be fine but you can always ask them at RT. One thing I learned in the whole experience is never hold back. Mention anything which upsets, puzzles or disturbs you in any way as the staff are very willing to help you. For a very brief time my grandsons thought I was very cool having tattoos, but when they realised they were the size of a full stop they were less impresses! All the best.
I think it's diprobase rather than double base. I get it on prescription - a 500ml pump lasts for ages. It is very light and absorbent - worth getting if you can.
what puzzles me is.....

they say to you "radiotherapy is perfectly safe". before, that is, they lock you alone in a nuclear-proof bunker and run away 400m to their control room......
Baths are you well ?

Sorry for not updating. I'll be in week 3 of 5 tomorrow, no side effects to speak of, haven't had the extreme fatigue folk mention, but there's time yet. Another 3 weeks.Every. Flamin'. Day.
