Good on your hubby Sharon !
Breaking my heart but I can't do it anymore as I have had to stop feeding the birds because of rats. I've done it every year for as long as I can remember but my bird watching days in my garden are over. I'm tempted to move because I miss my little feathered treasures so much.

lb - you have a dog don't you, will he/she not keep the rats at bay ? I ask because I have recently acquired a little dog and I too had a rat which was eating my birds food, but she has seen it off with aplomb and it hasn't been around for weeks now ...
Yes I do it every year. I don't know if it's allowed but on the Saturday I'll be in Suffolk, Sunday at Dungeness and Monday at home. Will have to read the details.
Jakep, it's one hour, in one place. Choose your venue. :-)
Just had a look back and 3 years ago I recorded 37 different species. Thing is I, for some reason, didn't log the Pheasant. (No we did not eat it)
Thank you, HereIam.......a BA means I'll have to do the bush on my head thing again......☺
Wow, Togo. That's an impressive number. Fancy forgetting the pheasant!
Thank you Tilly. Will wait and see what the weather brings.
HiA thanks for replying, yes I do have a terrier and he would certainly see them off but they don't come when he is my garden. Rats do feed in the day time, I have seen them, but they mainly feed at night when all is quiet. Bait has been laid by professionals before Christmas and all is quiet at the moment but I do not want to be the cause of them returning as it is an expensive business. Being in a flat I have to consider the other residents. BTW I hate to tell you this but there is never just one rat.
I know Tills. I also ignored the feral pigeons.

I definitely don't have any rats at the mo lb because Jill (my dog) doesn't react at all when she goes out and before she got rid of it she was reacting all the time and it's only the birds eating the food now which lasts much longer, and there is still some left the following morning, BUT I am aware it could come back and I am always alert !

You're welcome Gness ...
Don't forget if you see blackbirds they could be the same one (or a pair). Same with Robins. Very territorial birds.

I have two robins TTG, I've seen them together.
