Can someone please explain WHY I use GMX and outlook express,when I check for emails outlook says no emails for [email protected],yet on gmx I have about 25 for the same address [email protected]

When GMX has been looking for mail on your Tesco.net account it's then deleted them, meaning that they're then held solely on GMX's server and not on Tesco's. Log into your GMX account via their web page: http://www.gmx.co.uk/ Click on 'E-mail Settings' (bottom left) Click on 'Mail Collector' Remove the tick alongside 'Delete e-mails from the third party...

Maybe they're in the spam folder in Outlook.
You're best placed to explain WHY you use them. :-)

Is GMX the service provider ? If your Outlook Express doesn't see them then they haven't loaded them down from the server yet. Can you try hitting the send/receive button ? Did that make them go from the GMX server and appear in Outlook Express ? If not then there may be a wrong setting in Outlook Express.
Does GMX check the tesco mail?

If so, it may be removing them from the tesco server.

There are 2 formats for checking email - pop and imap.

With pop when you check for mail, any messages are taken off the mall server and stoted on whatever device you used to check for mail.

With imap your mail is left on the server and any device that you use (set for imap) will see the mail.

I know little of GMX but it reads as if it is claiming it accesses your other accounts and downloads what it finds there to itself. Nevertheless your Outlooks Express is a client on your PC and has to be set up to go to the GMX account and download what it finds there. I'd still suspect it is looking elsewhere. Check the settings to be sure.
Check the settings - if one is set for pop, then as I said earlier it will be removing the mail from the server.

Think of it like a reference only book in a library - you can't take it out of the library (eg. imap), but a normal book you can take out of the library (eg. pop)

Click on 'E-mail Settings' (bottom left)
Click on 'Mail Collector'
Remove the tick alongside 'Delete e-mails from the third party server after fetching'
Click 'Save'

Problem solved.
