I have bought 3 blank artist canvasses - basically thin canvas stapled to a wooden frame. With each canvas came 8 small rectangles of balsa type wood cut to a point at one end. I have absolutely no idea what these are for. Logic would say something to do with the corners but? Anyone know?
They are wedges to knock into the corners just to tighten the canvas onto the frame. Knock in with a soft mallet and be careful to use them evenlyie in each corner so as to retain the square shape
I'm embarrassed to say it's not for paint. I've pinched an idea from those 60 minutes makeover type programmes - I've papered a feature wall and the other 3 are white. I've covered 2 canvasses with the wallpaper to hang on the white walls if you get what I mean.
I paint with acrylics, some very thick and layered, some quite thin, and I've never used these, I must have hundreds of them still in their little plastic bags.
Non of my paintings have warped yet, I don't think they're necessary.
By the way, your idea is great :)
