I went to my local library last week and asked to use the loo. As I had a four year old and a one year old I thought I might have been allowed to use the disabled toilet - I had to go upstairs and I'm not good with stairs at the best of time due to a balance problem.
They do not have a disabled toilet - I find that incredible - particularly as there is PLENTY of space on the ground floor for one.
I would like to take this further - any suggestions would be appreciated

Our library in town has 3 disabled toilets for different transfers which I was very impressed by. Why should someone with a disability have to sit in their own waste if they want to go into town for a prolonged period of time.

Ric ror you can buy a disabled key from Amazon for £5 and even cheaper on Ebay, no criteria to meet and handy for the odd occasion when u desperately need one.
The charity Age UK recognises that older people might sometimes need a loo in a hurry and therefore sells RADAR keys:

The place that I work in used to offer toilet facilities for customers, but it wasn't strictly regulated, and everyone else also came in to use it, as there wasn't a public one anywhere in the village. We had to stop it as some people left it in a disgusting state.
There is still no public loo in the village, despite this being a tourist area. We send people to the nearest cafe if they ask for a loo. We have campaigned for a public loo, but have been told the council can't afford it. We all need to wee. Can't we have somewhere to go when we're out?
Eddie51, yes Greggs do have seating and apparently the vast majority of the Greggs stores are no longer selling bread just sandwiches and sausage rolls and the like and so do have seats

I'm interested to know why you believe you have a right to use a disabled toilet if you have children with you, Ric.ror.

I think you have answered the question in the question there HC

I am always surprised at the attitude to people using a disabled toilet - particularly if there is a queue in the non disabled and the disabled is not being used
