Iceland has many attractions to offer its visitors from Glacier treks, witnessing the magnificent Northern Lights to viewing some of the most amazing sea life while enjoying the vast Icelandic waters.

Why should you go to Iceland?

The landscape of Iceland is one of the most exotic on earth, with both glaciers and volcanic lakes creating an unforgettable view that must be seen to be appreciated. The crystal clear waters off Iceland represents one of the richest marine habitats in the world, with whales and all manner of aquatic life providing some wonderful opportunities for witnessing “adorable” wildlife.

For the chance to view whales, puffins and dolphins why not take one of the amazing cruises available, which searches for the creatures in one of the most spectacular settings on earth. Sightings are frequent and include minke whales, humpback whales, white-beaked dolphins and occasionally orcas. The boat trips will start from Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland and tour round the surrounding areas.

As well as cruise opportunities, there are also day trips available to the magnificent Godafoss Waterfall, Lake Myvatn and Dark Castles, where you can explore the scenery Iceland has to offer.

With superb outdoor facilities such as, ski slopes for people of all ski levels, hiking routes and golf compounds, the city of Isafjordur keeps guests entertained if you’re looking for a more action packed trip.

Attractions in Iceland:

Reykjavik is almost universally the highlight of a trip to Iceland. Its proximity to nature means that it too has a huge selection of outdoor activities to take advantage of, while the city itself is remarkably clean and friendly, with a peculiarly vibrant atmosphere that makes it a pleasure to explore.

And with the chance to hike to the top of Mt Esja, snorkelling where the continental flakes meet, kayak on the Thingvellir Lake and rock climb in Hvalfjordur fjord, or choosing a cruise shows Iceland truly has something for everyone. And along the way you get to see another of Iceland’s attractions, such as, Puffin Island, which is home to a large number of the birds.

Getting the most out of your holiday:

If the excess of activities, art galleries, museums, restaurants, sports venues and nightclubs has not kept you busy enough, odds are that Iceland will be celebrating something special when you pay your visit. The nation enjoys many events and celebrations all year round, so there’s always something you’ll enjoy. Its small towns and villages celebrate music festivals, local artists, fishermen’s days and other events, so check the local tourist information office when you arrive for a full list of major or minor events throughout Iceland.
