A. Last minute holidays are now big business. Approximately 40% of UK holidaymakers book less than two months before going away according to the BBC's Watchdog website, and this figure is growing. For those holidaymakers who like the stress of waiting and booking a holiday a lot later than this, there are plenty of online resources to help you. A few of these include the following:

Lastminute.com

Lastminute.com was the original website to offer late holiday options. Despite the fact that its homepage took an age to download when I accessed it, it does have some good late holiday options. When I asked the website to search a holiday to Greece, it came up with six options all for this week. Other last minute offers included Majorca for 269 all-inclusive; Flights from Heathrow to Amsterdam for 54; Father's Day special helicopter rides for 75 (plus other gift ideas for Fathers Day). It has special sections on 'what to do this weekend', 'book a villa for the summer' and 'in the sun for under 199'. On the website at the moment you can also win a holiday to Rio.

Lastminute.com is also good for last minute theatre tickets, sports tickets (especially football), weekend breaks, days out, gift ideas, activity and pampering breaks and cheap deals at renowned restaurants (particularly in London).

Teletext

Most of us will be used to checking out last minute holidays on Teletext via the television, the website is an extension of this service. When I searched for last minute breaksto the Costa del Sol it came up with a staggering 31 options, all for next week. It also has some more unique travel ideas e.g. green spaces in England, lake cruises in the Lake District, cheap hotel rooms in London, and a lakeside trip to Slovenia. You can also book an amazing 10-day tour of New Zealand's South Island for 683 in July. The only downside of this site is that it does not have a clear search function on the home page - it is there you just have to look for it.

Latelink Boating

Latelink offers last minute boating holidays in the UK, France and Ireland - these include canal breaks; cruising on the River Thames; Norfolk Broads, Loch Ness and the Great Glen, River Shannon, yachting and Hotel Boats.

Last Villas

Last Villas sells weeks that have been left unsold by tour operators for self catering villas - at the last minute and at low cost - you can pick up some real bargains here.

Pack Your Bags

packyourbags.com is a service provided by Country Trails Travel (which incorporates Romania Travel Center, Koral Travel, Drake and Cavendish and North American Holidays, as well as its own travel agent). It offers late bookings for more unusual holidays e.g. eco tours, hunting Dracula in Romania and mixing with wolves and bears in Eastern Europe. It specialises in last minute self-catering holidays in France and Italy and also offers cheap and late deals on flights, villas, insurance, car hire and city breaks. Its website search engine allows you to search for holidays in the price range you can afford e.g. up to 150, 150-300, 300-500.

Iglu

Iglu specialises in last minute winter holidays - specialising in ski resorts.

Deckchair

Comprehensive site offering cheap and last minute flights.

Cheap flights

Although this site specialises in flights it also offers deals on package holidays and last minute breaks.

Airline Network

This is a great resource for booking late flights at bargain prices.

My Own Price

This site asks you how much you are prepared to pay and tries to match it with a holiday, you can sometimes get great bargain last minute deals.
