Yes, trapped nerves are very common in the hip, the commonest being the sciatic nerve and another one is the nerve to the muscle pyriformis.
Symptoms vary but surround sciatica which is a symptom and not a disease process and involves pain in the buttock, which may or may not radiate down the back of the thigh and on occasions down to the ankle. Trapped nerves nearly always give unilateral (one sided)symptoms.
