What a lovely lady Jo was, and what a horrible way to die, at the hands of a ultra-right nutcase.

My thoughts tonight are with her husband and her kids.

> Leaving aside the politics of the Lady or this nutcase this was a very sad day for free speech in the UK. I believe YMB was saying that Mair killed Cox for expressing her beliefs, which made it a sad day for free speech especially as her beliefs weren't particularly extreme - formerly of Oxfam, campaigner on Syria, Remain, etc. Hardly a communist.

So sad. I'm just overwhelmed by such an awful crime.
May they find strength and comfort in each other and one day smile again, awfully tragic case.

I was nearly tears today, when I watched the interview with her husband.

I have never supported the death penalty and hopefully never will, but I think I could strangle Mair with my bare hands.
^ never had you down as a vigilante Mikey.

No, and I'm not. But Jo's death effected me rather a lot.

Thinking about this, I suppose its better that Mair dies a lonely and unhappy individual in prison, as a quick death would be far too merciful for him.
poor jo
and poor kids
my thoughts are with them
Mikey - I think he is so detached that he probably couldn't care less. To his mind, he accomplished his wicked feat.

He didn't enter a plea or a defence.
This was a terrible and unnecessary loss of a woman's life. The bigger problem is that these idiots are out there and sadly do strike from time to time.
How much longer are we going to hear about this, unknown (until she died) labour MP ?

Let her rest in peace !
More important trhan being an MP, Jo was a loving, and loved, wife and mother. Also a delightful lady.

1rovert...bad taste remarks from you at 05:31. She may have been unknown to you but not to everybody. Her far-right killer was sentenced yesterday and that is why I posted this ....it was all over the news yesterday.

Shame on you for your post.
I must confess that like 1rovert, I had never heard of her until she was murdered and I suspect most people could say the same. However, I do think that when something like this happens people tend to endow the victim with something resembling sainthood, as has happened in this case. Whoever she was and whoever the perpetrator was, it was a dreadful, senseless crime and I’m very pleased her murderer has been punished appropriately.
I didn't know who she was either but regardless it was a completely senseless murder of an innocent woman/wife/mother. May she RIP.
dreadful business..poor husband and kiddies...I , like Mike, do NOT advocate the death penalty..however when a life is taken so blatantly with no reason..no remorse and so brutally..I can make an exception for this one !
murraymints, there are several I could make an exception for.
Naomi...indeed...
I am in no doubt in my mind the death penalty should be reinstated for clear cut cases like this against Politicians, Police, Armed forces or any of our public services at the very least.

Leaving aside the politics of the Lady or this nutcase this was a very sad day for free speech in the UK.
youngmafbog, //this was a very sad day for free speech in the UK. //

Not with you. Why?
Question Author
YMB....I have problems with the first part of your post but none with the second part. Jo Cox was assassinated for her beliefs.
Mikey, care to explain?
