Has anyone been on a singles holiday I am considering going on one but have a few fears as to what it will be like I am a bit scared

Are you going to hopefully meet someone or you just want a holiday, and prefer to be on your own, or is nobody free to go with you at the moment?? I suggest that you go on your own - I have been doing it for years and the joy of being able to be totally selfish is amazing. Get up when you want, have a nice lunch in a restaurant with lots of families, and you won't feel awkward...

Only once when three of us booked late fpor a cheap deal to wherever was going (and to be honest I was clearly over the target age range. Basically a lot of drinking and loud behaviour in the evening, trips are available during the day. It tends to be just a young/more outrageous version of the normal package holiday. The organised games tend to take on a more risque flavour to try to get the folk "going" but you only opt to do what you choose to. Just don't get outrageously sloshed, and stick with your friends. Be aware you don't have to join any excursion you don't wish to.

Travel lightly, hand luggage is best. Take a travel kettle and adapter if you can fit it in, and with fruit, digestive biscuits and a fruit tea you can be self sufficient for breakfast.
Most countries are used to British visitors, but Holland is particularly welcoming. A few days in Amsterdam will be a great start to to travelling alone and not being reliant on anyone.
Make a copy of all relevant documents, passport, insurance and leave the originals in the hotel safe with a back-up credit card. Don't carry a lot of cash, but have a few euros/pounds in a safe pocket.
Take note of contact numbers for phone and credit card cancellations and keep safe.
In all the years of travelling I have never had a problem (I'm 62) but always felt better having a 'support line'.
