A. There are hundreds on the web - the hardest thing is picking the best ones. The following list is a mere snapshot of those that cover the UK, but they will help you find out what type of site you like as they are all really different.

Dateclub.com

Unlike most dating sites this one is completely free - I searched it for hidden prices but couldn't find any at all. It claims to be the fastest growing UK dating agency and the site is pretty impressive - you can update your personal profile or photograph at any time, have unlimited search time on its database of members, unlimited search time of the photo gallery or video clips, use of the chat room and forums. This site also offers some great tips on keeping safe on your date.

No More Frogs

Based on the premise that you have to kiss a fair few frogs before you find your prince - this site is innovative and very impressive in terms of its graphics. It has a unique personality questionnaire and matching process which links you up to potential partners based on your personality - it then matches your scores in its questionnaire to compatible matches. It is free to register on the site, and then to become a full member it costs 29 for two months, 39 for three months and 60 for six months. Thereafter renewal fees are 21 for two months and 31 for three months.

Woo Who

This is a very up to the minute site that allows you to have a photo, audio message or video clip to accompany your personal profile - and it can send you a text message or an email when you receive any interest from potential partners. It is quite expensive to join: 12 for one month, 30 for three months and 95 for one year and you have to give your credit card details up front before you register, which is annoying.

Love Makers

With a very suggestive title, this is a huge site with over 500,000 members - and as it is difficult to judge just how good a site is, basing your decision to sign up on popularity is no bad thing. It has a very cool Agent of Love facility - the Agent sniffs out potential love-matches from new adverts and emails you if it thinks there may be a person that you'll be interested in. This is another expensive site, which gives you more value for money the longer you sign up for. It costs 17 for one month, 42 for three months, 63 for six months and 85 for a year's membership.

Executive Dating

Full of professionals in their 30s, this site's members are probably signed up here because they spent their time climbing the career ladder instead of dating - all of the occupations listed are very impressive, so there is no room for the riff raff here. If you're after a serious date and you are a professional yourself this is the site to check out. It costs 24 for one month, 49 for three months and 99 for a full year's membership.

Datemate

This is a good site at the cheaper end of the market - you can register and search the adverts online before you have to pay any money so you can check out the quality of the clientele before you part with your own cash. It costs 10.99 for one month, 24.99 for three months and 49.99 for one year.

Match

If you adhere to the philosophy that big is best then this site could find you your ideal date - it is an international and it has almost 2 million members. It is very easy to use the site - your personal profile can be 2000 characters long (about 400 words) you can insert photos and you will find a lot of matches that correspond to your profile - you just have to wade through them and find the best ones. What a chore!
