Most days when I turn on my TV, I get a notice saying ' no channels have been added yet. Please go to install & retune menu to add channels.

I go to menu and there is a selection list, scart, tv, side av, hdm1, hdm2 etc.

I have to fiddle about selecting so I get lucky, but today nothing.

Have switched off at the wall and turned on again, but the same. I am on Sky and TV is panasonic.

Sky is usually connected by HDMI so select HDMI then ensure your Sky box is on and you should get a picture. Usually if Sky is not working there is a mesaage to tell you what to do. If you have more than one HDMI socket you may need to try HDMI2 etc if HDMI 1 doesn't work.

Your selection list is the data signal source into the TV.
They relate to sockets on the side or back of the TV where you plug things in.
You probably want DTV, or if that isn't there maybe TV.

No channels suggests you have either not scanned for over the air signals or for some reason the TV has lost the data. You need to look for a different menu option regarding install or scan.

I confess I know next to nothing about sky and base my experience in Freeview. But I suspect it is much the same.

trt also note that when you have switched on you need to select on the TV remote (top right) where it says input select av. You should be able to set that as a default so that every time you switch on it goes straight there without the faff.
Depending on the model this should do it. Got to set up menu and look for 2other settings" Select "Power on Preference" Select "Set to av"
The 2 = " (missed shift key.)

Thanks folks,

Will try the above replys tomorrow, as after half an hour today to get a programme, I don't want the same again, as I want to watch, CDWM.
So will let you know tomorrow.
Does your tv have built in freeview? If so have you tuned it in (even if you don't use it)

Do you switch your sky box off at the mains at night? If so when you switch it on it takes a couple of minutes before it will turn on (its getting the info for the tv guide etc. from the satellite.)

Perhaps when you turn on the tv there is no signal from sky box because its not ready. Thus the tv looks for other signals and isn't getting them.

Try turning the power on, then wait a few minutes before you tuen the tv on and see if it gets sky then.
