Using Macro Filters On A Nikon D5100

Recently got the camera and still learning to use it. I have purchased some macro filters with 1x 2x 4x and 10x magnification but having trouble using them. I'm not sure what lens to use them with for close ups. I have an 18-55 and a 55-200 lens and am still using me camera on auto settings. I don't seem to be able to focus. Any tips would be appreciated :)

With you standard lens kit the these macro rings just mean that you can get focused further away from your subject in macro mode.
If you want to take a macro pic of a fly the chances are as you get closer to it it will fly away, so these rings allow you to use macro mode on your camera but instead of having to be say 5 cm away they allow you to get the same magnificatio

the 1 and 10x rings probably wont be much use but the 4 should be about right.
