Downloaded 'The LastWaltz'(1978)DVDRip from bitcomet this am. Played the dvd via windows media player and is brilliant. Saved file in Library and burnt to blank dvd disc. disc WILL NOT play in dvd player attached to t.v. All other dvd discs, including ones borrowed from friends play ok. Why is this happening please and what can I do about it? Any help REALLY appreciated.
Thank You Folks.

Did you convert it to DVD format before burning? If not, then you'll have just burned the data file which your player doesn't seem to play. It sounds like you downloaded a DVD rip (probably in XVID format), not an actual DVD. What's the size of the file?

If you have Vista or Windows 7 (Premium editions), you can use the built in Windows DVD Maker to convert it...

Hope I am not b
in windows 7, when you insert the disk, a box will appear asking you to choose a "burn" option -
1 burn files to disk with windows explorer, or
2 burn a dvd disk using windows dvd maker

if you're making a dvd, choose the latter, follow the on-screen prompts.

if you burn a Div-x or avi format video file to a DVD (using option 1 above), most dvd players will play it, but only if you choose option 2 on the next box that appears - which asks you to how you want to use the disk (either like a flash drive or with a cd/dvd player). choosing option 1 (the flash drive option) seems to render the disk unreadable by dvd players, although pcs will still play them ok.
maybe just needs to be finalised to play on any dvd player.
It seems the file you download is not of DVD video formats which has a video_ts folder, and many .ifo, .vob,.bup files under the folder, so after you burn by data mode, the dvd player can't recognize it.

If you want to keep a copy and play on your DVD player, you may rent this DVD from the shop, and use DVD burner to make a copy. I suggest you use Longo DVD Copy from http://www.longodvd.com to make a copy of the original DVD. With this tool, you don't need to worry about the burning mode(data mode or video mode), this soft will automatically do all the work, you just need to insert the DVD into your DVD drive, and start copying.
