Yes, have one, its good but still can't get my head round the manual, its 60 pages long. Make Samsung, can manage to record programmes, just, not a technophobe but sometimes the instructions are more complicated than need be

Yes. Mine`s an LG one and it`s multi-regional too which means you can play DVDs that were purchased/imported from the USA, Far East etc. I got mine from Richer Sounds who are good if you need any help choosing.
Curry's i believe, not too expensive.

Very common. Panasonic always rated best by Which? Best place to buy- Richer Sounds or John Lewis, both excellent after-sale service.
When you say "recorder" do you mean DVD recorder, on do you mean to record from the TV onto "hard disk" like the Sky box does.

If you mean a box to record DVDs then yes, there are lots of DVD players/recorders combined.

But if you plan to record a lot of TV then you may be better getting a Personal Video Recorder (PVR) which records programs onto hard disk.

It may contain a DVD recorder as well, so you can copy programs you want to keep from the "hard disk" to DVD.
...avoid Currys (or any Dixon Group store) like the plague!
