Avast Blocking My External Hard Drive
My Avast demanded to be updated yesterday, so I did. Now when I plug my external hard drive in (a little Maxell portable) nothing comes up and I can't back things up. I assume these two events are connected as there was no trouble till today.
Is there any way to tell Avast to permit it? Or of restoring the earlier Avast? (Though I assume the latter would be risky.)
(Please don't advise installing MSE instead as I had the same trouble with it in the past; that's why I installed Avast in the first place.)

I use up-to-date Avast on W8.1 and don't have this problem. If you right-click the Avast icon in the task tray you'll find the 'Avast Shield Controls' where you can disable it for a period - see if the drive is recognised when Avast is disabled. I suspect it won't make a difference.

Hello all
Not all that nice weatherwise here today. Overcast all day and cool although just further inland it was lovely.
I went to the hairdressers and did some housework and that's it.
Very unexciting.
Hope you got your bus in the end Neti .How's the tooth ?
Has he been eating grass Woofy ? It's looking a bit lush now and the lawn needs mowing .Shaney liked to eat the new grass and then wait until he got indoors to chuck up :)

Well blow me. I typed a long post and only the good morning has appeared!
I hope shugy is better now. The cat and i had a lovely night, she didnt disturb me at all, in fact I thought she had died but when i went to check she was laying there on her bathroom mat, as good as gold. There was some regurgitated cat food on the lounge carpet though. She seems happy enough, and no toothache for me! Shes taken to sleeping in the bathroom which is most inconvenient for when one wants to powder one's nose!

Lovely here now after a foggy start. It was a real pea souper all night.
Quite mild out too although I was only outside in the garden mooching around.My back is playing up too after trudging out yesterday and then vacuuming upstairs.It aches permanently but some days much more than others.Put your hot cushion on Jno.

I have been sorting the garage. Found a firm who will take away DH’s files and confidentially shred them. Not cheap but I couldn’t face doing it...it had to wait until now for tax reasons. I can now see almost half of the garage floor and will see more once the big room turnaround is done as I will either used some of the stored furniture of get rid of it. YES this is my year!

Well done woofy. Progress has been made here too, Tarquin & bro-i-l came yesterday and did the slab work as promised. Now I've got a secluded place at the bottom of the garden to sit and dream about a summer house and think about all the other things that need doing.
I know the feeling with the aches 'n pains. I say I'm in some pain all of the time and a lot of pain some of the time. I'm fed up of these dull sinus headaches at the moment. Think I'll try an anti-histamine.

Today's plan is to sort and tidy my wardrobe..yet again.I must be really ruthless, and get rid of anything that hasn't seen the light of day for ages.There's no point in hanging on to stuff I'm never going to wear again.No dithering is my mantra! Put stuff in sacks and walk away.No getting things out again and going ...hmm....well....perhaps....and putting them back again just in case.

good day all, very nice here, have been sunbathing on the patio but I looked so awful I put myself off and came in!
Oh Robi wasn't it awful, but I've had it with Dom's face, drives me up the wall, hate Isaac!! Love Hanssen and Sacha!!
Cat woke me up every hour so I slept in til 10, then washed the bedding, so was late doing everything.

haha, that's me to a tee shaney, last week I put some things aside for a charity bag... I've done that before and then left them 'just in case'. However a leaflet came this morning to say the Air Ambulance will collect on Monday so I'm going to try and wave goodbye to them at last. Will I do it? Tune in on Tuesday to find out :)

I put myself off every time I look in the mirror lately.
Pale and uninteresting.I need some hot sun on my old body.
I've heaved out five sackfuls of stuff including shoes,boots ,scarves and bags.I don't need about thirty scarves .I can only wear one at a time.
One more wardrobe to do as I have two built in ones and have to get on the little step ladder to get into the top cupboard and I've had enough dizzies looking up there today.
There's no going back either .I've phoned my brother and he's coming over tomorrow to take it all to the childrens hospice shop.
I now have lots of space and have seen two T shirts I like in M&S which will fill a gap :)
