sound from pc to tv

Hi I have connected my pc to tv but there's no sound. I have connected the sound cable from pc to tv via the headphone ports but nothing is happening. Could anybody offer some advice please. The pc is a Packard Bell windows vista and the tv is a Sony Bravia flatscreen sort of thing. Everything is working as a pc other than the sound. Thank you in anticipation.

You might want to try the audio input socket on the TV rather than the headphone port (which is an audio OUT socket)

I may be wrong but I have a feeling that Chuck may be on to something here :)!

Thank you Chuck, I've done as you suggested, problem solved. Silly me! Ratter, You were right to have faith in Chuck. Now I'm able to watch Mad Mad world on you tube as suggested by zhukov but on a larger screen. Thank you.
