Totally agree with you.

Couldn't agree more. And it's a nightmare for Liverpool supporters trying to get to Wembley by train next week. The latest train that they can get from Lime street station to get to Wembley in time for kick-off (which remember is 5.15!) is 8am, and they can't come back by train until Monday. But no, engineering works cannot be re-scheduled!

Nothing to do with Sky, in fact the Fa Cup is not even on Sky.
The only reason it is not the last game this season is that we need the games finished in time for Euro 2012 get together.
And the only reason it was not the last game last season is that the Champions league was played at Wembley and no matches are allowed there for 4 weeks before the Champions League.

Also dont you realise that without the money from Sky and all the other TV companies we would not see the likes of Aguero, Suarez, Nani, Drogba, Van Persie etc etc playing in our league.
They would soon go off to the Italian, Spanish and German and Russian leagues if our clubs could not afford them.

Couldn't agree more.
I understand the authorities want and need to recoup the money spent on their flash new stadium but it is quite obviously to the detriment of the competition as a whole.
Semi-final weekend used to magical, watching teams play at Villa Park, Hillsborough, Old Trafford, Elland Road etc, knowing that not just the prize of a Cup Final spot was at stake but the whole experience of making it to Wembley itself, for fans as well as the players.
Nowadays it seems it's almost mundane, knowing that as a fan who might have travelled from the North (Liverpool v Everton etc) that as a winner you'd be making the same trip again a few weeks later when the game could have been played at Old Trafford or the Etihad, meaning that cost would have been kept lower and the magic of getting to Wembley would have been maintained.
The magic has gone from the FA Cup and I doubt it'll ever return, certainly not to the level that it held when I was a lad.

Still don't follow why it's a 5.15 kick off. Surely Euro games don't affect the time, only the date. What televised fixture has demoted it, if any?
Won't seem right , walking out of Wembley Park tube in the late afternoon. What was wrong with 3pm, the traditional time ?

It's obvious guys, the Linfield v Crusaders Irish Cup final takes precedence and the FA Cup moved back accordingly.

It wouldn`t surprise me Dunc ;0)

the arrival of foreign managers years ago,who did not understand what the fa cup meant to fans so therefore fielded weakened sides so that they could concentrate on the league title and the holy grail of champions league football..the fa and sky havent helped matters...the way the fa treats fans ie having the semi finals at wembley is a disgrace...its just to pay for shortfalls of the fa...they dont care about the fans..the kick off time for the final is testament to that...

true and you are a bit closer to Wembley than I am (and many of us), you mr and mrs stokies.......

I agree totally with the points made here but, on a very selfish level, I am delighted. I can watch the Irish Cup final at 14:30 and then, when it is over, go to the pub and kill time watching the secondary event and celebrating/drowning my sorrows until my 21:15 flight takes me back to Scotland.

Tough game though; Crusaders are a very capable side.

Fingers crossed, but I don't want to get too confident, even though DJ is the greatest manager we've ever had, and I include Roy Coyle in that.

Money. The answer to everything. Wembley used to be the dream venue for any footballer. The proof that he and his team had reached the highest height. Now it is just a place to play so that the bills can be paid for its upkeep. 3 pm. Saturday. A tradition. Like so much nowadays ignored.
