I am human. I will breed you and indescriminantly kill you for my food. I will also select the ones that feel nice, kill you and make you into my clothes. When I feel lonely or need to seek solace in my terrible life I will use you for your companionship and convince myself you love me.

Now I get laughed at a lot by turning to vegetarianism more and more but does the above not sound just pathetic?

I always laugh at the vegetarians who state all the moral filled reasons why they are vegetarians...then go and eat a kebab

I don't know if anyone sensible ever laughed at the idea of vegetarianism. At least they know what they're eating. Carnivores could have consumed a menagerie of animals in a burger without ever being any the wiser.
@umm Heh, ok :)

Are you sure that your cat does not just tolerate you for bringing it food, and may deign to allow you pet it and stroke it when it feels the need to be the centre of attention? :)

No it sounds accepting of the way life works. Above the base of the food chain one living thing preys on another. And an avoidance of oversensitivity which would otherwise risk believing they have a moral disagreement with nature.

I don't think many laugh at vegetarians, but many do see it as a strange stance to take. But each to their own, as "they" say.
OMG Iggy - who is this phantom cake killer? Don't let Boo know
Vegetarians don't necessarily know what they're eating Sandy. Substitutions happen in the plant food industry too.
wonder why this is religion and spirituality.
em - maybe because some vegetarians have a holier than thou attitude?
le us all pray then, that we don't get poisoned from eating veggie burgers.
Amen

Hey I was not trying to insult anyone... I hear people mock vegetarians all the time. This is why I posted this.
To be honest I have heard people mock vegetarians (not individual people however) in general conversation (such as calling them the knit your own lentil brigade)
Mrs O. Had to laugh at your posting about the lobster.
Whilst being a meat eater I am not good with the idea of killing something myself and then eating it.
Living near the sea as we do a friend used to come round after mackerel fishing and give us some spare fish. One day he came round and said 'Do you like crab'? I said we both loved shellfish.
He then produced a live crab from the bucket. I thanked him profusely.
Later I went down to the sea and let it go!
Hypocritical I know but we've all got our funny ways!
I've never known anyone to mock a vegetarian. Are you sure you're not preaching to people about it? That could cause eyes to roll.
I only find vegetarians amusing when they eat things like vegetarian sausages, or burgers, or mince.

We don't have to eat animals ... but vegetables are only tasty if we make them look and taste like animals, lol
Ha ha! That's true Jayne. Lumps of cardboard that look like bacon rashers. :o)
mmmmmm bacon mmmmmmmmmmmmm :)
There seems to be an ever-growing tendency to post misleading or untrue statements/claims in the guise of questions.
'Why do vegetarians get laughed at...?' - most people would strongly disagree that vegetarians DO get laughed at.
There have been similar 'questions' - 'why do atheists...?', 'why do Christians...?', and most of them are not backed up by any facts or evidence. If the questions are presented in such a slanted form, it's unlikely the answers will satisfy the people who've posted them.
I'm sort of partly vegetarian, because I love sashimi, and steak tartare, which don't involve cooking animals.
When I was veggie I didn't eat substitutes. I stopped eating meat because I don't really like meat. Bacon....yuk...sausages...yuk.
people think im a veggie app i look like one....

however i am a meat loving carnivore and one day i will kill my bloody cat and make her into a fur heat, esp if she keeps waking me at stupid o'clocck

i don't laugh at vegetarians, i think more bacon for me
