Sparklykid, I think we just have to face the fact, however unpalatable some may find it, the TV has to reflect the world as it is today. Unfortunately, because soaps need to be inclusive, I think there is a disproportionate amount of LGBT's, same sex marriages etc. As well as that there seems to be a disproportionate amount of criminality and death by accident...
Sparkly, LGBT Couples adopt -which I don't agree with and I will take anything thrown at me, I don't care. Im not appologising to anyone for thinking marriage is for two people of the opposite sex.
When women refer to their partners as their 'wives' or men to their partners as their 'husbands' they are trying to normalise their situation and use it to 'annouce' their sexual orientation -as if anyone is remotely interested......
Whilst men remain on the planet babies can be produced by women. Much the same as cows can have calves without meeting any Bulls, Sparkly. I thought that was obvious. And marriage to me is not about having children. It's about wanting to spend your life wih someone you love.
My son is gay and I can confidently answer this question on his behalf....he would say something a long the the lines of 'who is that fat old homophobic git judging me'
But not about reproduction... how does the sanctity of marriage differ, depending on your sex?
Apg, I agree...
But actually, I'm not a fan of surrogacy for a few reasons. I don't agree it's always a good thing.
Fed up with soaps full stop. The only one we used to watch was Corrie, but now the storylines are just ridiculous. Too much arguing (like EastEnders) not funny any more. Bring back Hilda Ogden.
Danny, in wasn't suggesting that those fed up with the never-ending portrayal of such story lines are homophobic. But SK is obviously not just talking about tv.
Me too, apc, unfortunately :-). Maybe not desirable, but it is possible. Something about fertilising an egg, with the nucleus of another, so you have two mothers, no father- and always a female baby.
Ladybirder // APG - If either of you had had a child who was gay, would you have felt differently do you think?//
This is not about liking or disliking Gay people - its about opinions on how they are depicted in soaps and a side debate on the rights or wrongs of same sex marriage.
