Over the years I've inhereted odd bits and pieces of jewellery most of which is probably of no value but you never know, there may be the odd bit. I'm not sure where to take it for someone to give me an "honest" opinion. Any ideas anyone?

Check locally whether any good auction houses have a free valuation day. Most have a free one at least once a month. I know my local auction house will assess stuff for me for free on an ad hoc basis.

If it was me I would go to a local independent jeweller and ask for a written insurance valuation. There will be a fee but it shouldn’t be a lot. If they don’t do it, they can probably send you to someone who will. As you are not offering to sell, you should get an honest report.
