THE ANSWER IS TO DO WITH NORTH YORKSHIRE BUT NOT A TOWN OR CITY
THE CLUE IS SRETCH OF WATER MERES MAYBE SUCH AS RYDAL OR DERWENT

perhaps you should ask without SHOUTING and in a way that makes sense? :-)
Do you know how many letters in the answer or anything else - I can't beleive 'stretch of water' is all you have to go on?

very sorry didnt know i was shouting i was asking a question.The clue is 5,5.
Is the clue "stretch of water" and its to do with North Yorkshire (5,5). How about River Swale?

yeh that is full clue it has been a very cryptic clue , i only typed in capitals as I thought would stand out more no offence was meant I dont think i have ever posted a question and not had ananswer lol

Rydal Water and Derwent Water are both in the lakes.....
Semer Water . . . . anag: water meres
