I got it but was unsure it would be accepted as a word. I'm trying not to give too much away for those yet to have a go

The word lost its hyphen some years ago.

I checked the dictionary and see it is both a valid verb and noun.

I got it in three, too, but only because I couldn't think of another word that fit the letters I had

We have had electronic mail since 1975, and the term email since 1979.
I am fine with it, got it in 3.

It took me 5 guesses. It's probably a word a lot of us say every day.

I didn't get it because I thought it was an abbreviation not a proper word.

It's in a lot of crosswords as one word, in fact it is in today's Times, as one word.

Don't care what it's been since 1979, both me and OH independently think it wasn't a proper word.

Don't want to disillusion you, Prudie, but the OED trumps you and your husband in this
