What a load of Heddlu :-(
Wouldn't dream of mocking it. He's surely just been through a frightening experience, poor fellow.
Gromit - your link shows an image of the gentleman in question, but does not offer context or background to the issue - do you have another link explaining the police position on this?
This is why you should just say no to drugs.
He appears to have been photographed with a burning oil refinery in the background.
Apolologies - Lie-In King and I cross-posted.

If you read between the lines Gromit, the police have not said that mocking this gentleman's hairstyle will lead to prosecution, but that malicious remarks may do so, which is fair enough, because that is against the law.
But it was malicious remarks about his hair.
Can we mock his hair without being malicious? I need to clarify the legal position before I start mocking..
Zacs - // But it was malicious remarks about his hair. //

Exactly - mocking his hair is not potentially an offence, maliciously mocking it could be.

It's a fine line, but it is a line none the less.
We need 20,000 more of this type of police on the streets.
Morale among drug dealing scum must be kept up or who knows what might happen.
Your just splitting hairs now, andy.
you're (grrrrr)
It's still the school holidays and the kids are busy, that's the problem.
// It's a fine line, but it is a line none the less. //

A bit like the guy's hair in fact.
I seem to recall quite recently a police force became the object of ridicule because they stated they couldn't post a picure/mugshot of an extremely dangerous fugutive who must not be approached if seen because 'to publish a photo would contravene his human rights or data protection Act or something equally bizarre.
'If you see this man tell us but we can't show you a picture of him because we break the law'
There is a precedent in the New Testament.

Some children jeered Elisha about his bald head on the way to Bethel and the Lord sent two bears that tore 42 of them to pieces.
