this does not make sense to me A proverb recommending preparation 8,5,7, however I only have 5 and7 spaces. Can anyone help many thanks in advance

Confusing clue took me time to work out that the first word of the first proverb is the first word of the second so

Practice what you preach
&
Practice makes perfect
Practice Makes Perfect?
correct english is : practiSe what you preach.
practiCe makes perfect
I'd already given the answer Practise what you preach though letters given and numbers were a bit confusing. practise-verb practice-noun Anything goes nowadays it seems.Oh dear I've used that dreadful word "nowadays"-a sign of getting on a bit!!
